Also a valid point to make, minimum buffers need to be fixed too. Theres no point in making a 1.5M max if you can only manage 500-600k.

I am all for buffers, but you will have to watch the amount there is. I would assume there will be a lot of MA fighters at the start of the pwipe and you don't really want to make their class suck any more by making them sit there every 5 minutes waiting for the buffer to expire.

WHich guild can only get 500-600k xp per hour?

1.5 Million is 500k per cycle. Most casters should be able to get that without any problems. The only semi I can think of that probably can't realistically is monks.

Tinkers can hit it, thieves can hit it EASY. Fighters might not be able to until very high levels in S.

There is another thing to note. MA fighters will not be hitting the cap until quite some time. Fighters still have double drain and even a newbie MA fighter won't be getting 3 million xp per hour for some time. Especially not without good armour.

Speaking of MA the xp for it should be severely toned down.

"Tinkers can hit it,"

Well, no, tinkers hit just over 1 million...

Encahnters can't quite hit it either, just below it, and I think one or two more of the spellcasting guilds can't.

I was going to suggest 350K buffer per 20 minutes... I would prefer that, but I figured people would... cry too much \:\)

Ok.. but very close to it! Even a 25% xp difference isn't that significant really. It's when you start getting into 800k vs 3 million per hour that it starts getting really unbalanced.

To give people an idea of how much it would "slow" down leveling.

If the cap was set to 1.5 million XP per hour, it would take a non-fighter at max speed:

Level 15 would take under 1 hour.
Level 25 would take 7 hours and 20 minutes.
Level 35 would take 32 hours.

Total time to go from level 20 to level 40 would be approx: 16.5 days playing time.

If it's set to 1 million per hour, you're looking at 24.5 days approx for 20 to 40.

You're looking at about a month (straight) of playing realistically to hit 40 in a category. Half that time for a fighter.

In the lower levels it's much quicker than the old buffer system.

I don't think that's so bad. \:\) I remember when even getting to 40 was... something that was a big feat.

Nod, I'd be alright with these buffers. The lower levels suck, but I don't think it should be a walk in the park for the higher levels either. It's still going to be a matter of time invested, but I don't think there's much to change that. I think this will also limit certain guilds getting very high, while others were stuck behind because of their max exp gain being much less.

I like this \:\)

Sword-Mages just can't do it.
May be a bit closer after 40 in magic, but it takes forever to level that high.

Why'd this thread die? All that talk of pwipe scare people away?

Well let's to to breathe some life back into it. Why's 1.5 million seem to be the magic number? Would a buffer drain rate of 1 million per hour be any less acceptable?

Should we also be taking a look at how active one has to be in order to reach the buffer max? I'm sure that if a guild is making 3 million per hour currently and they are capped at 1 million they'll require much less active time to max out their buffer and then have a long time of sitting and draining. Is that something that is worth addressing, or is it superfluous when compared against rate of level gain?
