People can't save things on their hiatused character because that makes it unlootable.

If you're worried about IC problems with keeping your equipment, just ICly drop your equipment in a public place, then ICly find it with your new char... Very easy to do \:\)

Or, donate your equipment to a friend, and then make friends with that person again, and maybe they'll offer you your equipment back ;\)
