Currently, with no buffers, attaining higher levels is, for some guilds at least, very easy and fast. The upside to no buffers is that lower levels, which are at least for experienced players quite tedious, go by fast.

By reintroducing buffers, and setting their drain rate to 500k per 20 minutes, for a total of a max XP gain of 1,5 million/hour, early levels would still be fast, while higher levels would be slowed down, for the guilds who earn silly ammounts of XP.

This would also balance XP gain between guilds somewhat, since the difference between low end and high end would by far less pronounced.

Agreed.

A bit unfair to those who would be hit with the buffer compared to those already high level though. But I suppose just dealing with it would be a step in the balancing direction.

I shudder at the word. But others have more to lose than I do :p. If it would balance the field and help admins balance then I am all for it.

I don't understand this obsession with pwipe. People who know the game will be back to their levels fairly quickly. Newer players won't catch up with them anyway so why bother?

Maybe because returning buffers would be a huge change in how much XP can be gained... A lot of players will simply become uncatchable....

Uncatchable? Isn't that a word best used now for guilds who gain massive amounts of xp compared to others?

Yes. And bufffers of 1-1.5 million/hour would fix that. \:\)
