Non-level 1 weapon skills

In the tinker guild, and I think other guilds, some weapon skills are not level 1. I can't think of a good reason why that is, and I can think of several bad ones.

Not having the skill at level 1 just means you have to waste X ammount of devs to be able to get to, say, level 5 and be able to train 2-handed polearm, or rely on a LOT of constant spellups, or have the first 5 levels take aeons. The advantage of chosing 2-handed polearm as your primary skill after all those hassles is... Well, none really.

I might miss something, but I can't think of any good reason of having any weapon skill not be level 1.

how about skills like martial arts for fighters?

For the most part though I agree with you, almost every weapon type should be available at level 1. If the delayed skills were better somehow I could see a reason for the delay, but as is I think all weapon types are pretty much equal.

Martial arts isn't a WEAPON skill. And it's broken. \:\)

I agree with you. It could use some serious tweaking. We've been discussing options!
