COMBAT
The most important type of Action you'll encounter
in Darke will probably be Combat. Not only is combat a regular staple
of adventuring, but combat is the one Action that will have the most effect
on your character--by getting him or her killed.
Combat begins when you declare you wish to kill your opponent.
Syntax: kill [opponent]
Each character then gets to act in Turn order; take all
of its attacks, and determine the results of each attack. Then the next
character gets to act untill all combatents have attacked. The Phase is
over when everyone has had a chance to attack. Then a new Phase begins.
Combat will continue like this automatically untill your opponents are
all dead, have rune away, or all all knocked unconcious. Once combat has
been initiated you will attack your opponent on sight untill you have
slain him or both combatents have decided to stop hunting.
Syntax: stop hunting
Rules of Play
This section covers the basic conditions you have to meet
before you can engage in combat.
Are You Clear?
No matter what the attack, you need to be in the same area
to attack your opponent no matter how close they may seem.
How Often Can I Hit It?
You recieve one attack for each weapon you have wielded.
Certain situations may modify this (spells, increased metabolism, innate
ability, superiour training, ect.), but as a rule you only recieve one
attack per Phase.

Special Combat Modifiers
Weapon Accuracy
A built-in modifier, Weapon Accuracy reflects the difference
in quality between weapons and their effect on the user's abilities; the
better and easier to use the weapon, the better you use it (and the worse
the weapon...). To use Weapon Accuracy just apply the modifier to your
Attack as with any other Modifier.
Making The Attack
In combat, the Attacker uses his Skill with his chosen Weapon
or Hand to Hand skill. He may also have to add or subtract certain modifiers
from his skill to determine the final outcome. Example: an attacking character
with a skill of 45% is fighting with two weapons -40 and is a small creature
+10 thus fighting with 15% skill. Not a wise choice by any means.
The Defender has a chance to aviod the attack using any
appropriate skills at his disposal. A character has a chance to defend
the attack once for each skill he has at his disposal.
