|  | SKILLSThe first thing you will want to do after joining 
        a guild is train skills. Skills are things the character knows or can 
        do. They represent his or her level of knowledge and accomplishment. In 
        Darke there are four basic Skill Catagories. Combat: The ability to fight in hand-to-hand combat, 
        or with a melee weapon. Standard: Magic: World: Training SkillsSkills are normally rated from ond to one hundred; and are 
        used in game making a check against the skill percent. Skills are like 
        Characteristics; they have a range of effectiveness that is related to 
        how much they cost. Skills are purchased at a cost relative to the Development 
        Cost. Buying a skill generally gets you the ability to do pretty much 
        everything described by that skill. The list of possible skills one could 
        encounter is Darke is vast. Whats compiled on the following table are 
        typical skills most commonly seen. Everyman SkillsThe good news is, every character also gets a free starting 
        group of skills to begin with, so that he won't be totally helpless in 
        his new environment: Everyman Skills. Everyman skills are determined by 
        your race. They are things that are generally know by everyone of that 
        race. These are given free to all characters, and have an automatic starting 
        level; about what the average person would know about his world. Each 
        can be improved by adding Skill levels on an individual basis. 
         
          | COMBAT SKILLS 
 
  Attack: This is a 
              combat skill. Your ability to attack can help in any combat situation. Dodge: This skill allows 
              you to dodge attacks. Parry: Melee:
   | STANDARD SKILLS 
 
 Blacksmith: This skill 
              is used to forge metal armour and weapons. In order to forge armour, 
              you need an armour blank, and in order to forge weapons, you need 
              a weapon blank. Some weapons have wooden components, and require 
              both carpentry skill and a wooden board to fashion. Trade Lore: This is 
              the skill of trade, allowing you to haggle successfully with shopkeepers 
              and the like. You will receive more money for sold items and be 
              able to offer less for purchased items without being laughed out 
              of the store.

          | MAGIC SKILLS 
 
  Detect Magic: This 
              skill allows passive detection of magical auras on objects. They 
              will glow if they have enchantments. Illusionism: This spell casting skill allows 
              you to deal in the arts of illusion. The spells governed by this 
              skill may range from spells of deception and disguise to spells 
              of illusionary attack! | WORLD LORE SKILLS 
 
  World Lore: This is 
              a general world knowledge skill that you gain when you learn more 
              of the world in which you live. It is also used one time only to 
              set the type of terrain that you function best in. Forage:  Allows you to find enough food to 
              satisfy your hunger in the wilderness.
 View: Underground Navigation: Divining: Allows you to find enough water 
              to satisfy your thirst in the wilderness. Navigate: Camouflage:  This skill allows you 
              to slip into the shadows of nature and go unnoticed until you move. 
              Note that players with high perception skill will still see you. 
               Bandage: Swimming: |    | HOW GOOD IS MY SKILL? Less than 10 (Challenged): 
        You don't know how to do this task at all. 10-20 (Everyday): 
        You've learned the basics of this task, and can do this thing most of 
        the time, though not very well. You're an apprentice or a beginner. 21-40 (Competent): 
        You are well trained and practiced in this skill, and can perform it well 
        in everyday circumstances. You can handle unusual applications of the 
        skill with some difficulty. you're considered a professional. 41-60 (Heroic): You 
        are a master of this skill, and are capable of unusual applications of 
        the skill. You are considered a master craftsman. 61-80 (Incredible): 
        A skill at this level means you're one of the very best in the world. 
        you are at ease with unusual applications of the skill, or even new applications. 
        This is entering the realm of fiction, of amazing skill that's not quite 
        impossible! 81-100 (Legendary): 
        A skill at this level puts you in the realm of the greatest practitioners 
        of this skill in history. You are pushing forward the boundaries of the 
        skill and what it can be used for, and have entered the realm of genius 
        and of fiction. More than 100+ (Superheroic): 
        Skills at this level are better than anyone coul believe in the real world. 
        This realm belongs fantasy or mythology. |
